Advisory Software Trading Systems are of several kinds. These can be viewed as specialized tools as you would view the collection of tools in your workshop. Some are used often while others are reserved for special conditions. When describing these tools, the authors try to focus on end results without revealing the theory and algorithms to their competitors. Some tools simply monitor price and volume with limited charting capabilities. Others create stock candidate watch lists according to pre-selected criteria. Still others advise on trade entry and exit points while monitoring market price and volume, collecting data according to pre-selected technical indicators. Still others can combine a combination of these features with varying degrees of flexibility. These software systems are connected to either real time market data, delayed data or a static database on CD that is updated periodically. In the scheme of things, this category represents rule based systems that have been automated to save time and effort and minimize trading errors. General information on types of trading systems may help to distinguish between various system hierarchies.
